As you guys might have guessed, this rig is more or less discontinued.
I thought about creating an updated version of it, but actually, Eleven in its current state would not be able to compete with newer free rigs like Malcolm, and building a whole new version of it might take a lot more time than I can afford to give.

The Maya rig is still downloadable, but I cannot guarantee that it will still work with maya versions newer than Maya 2014.
I am pretty sure though, that it will crash Maya if you try to use it with parallel evaluation in the newest Maya versions.

The 3Ds MAX and the Motion Builder versions have become unavailable, so is the GUI for the maya version.

Thank you all for your support and nice words over the course of the last TEN years, and as soon as I can carve out some time to upgrade it, you'll be the very first to know!

Cheers!
It was time to keep you all up to date and to give a sneak peak of what's going on. The rig is in version alpha 2.4. The rig is completely build up from scratch (with mesh straight out Maya) and we attend to copy all the specific properties from Maya to 3ds Max. So that the animators experience would be the same in Maya as in 3ds Max.
What can you do:

You can configure the rig at the baseplate. Through the modifierpanel you can adjust the settings like Girl/Boy, Fat/Thin/ Sporty, etc. Also a subdivision control is put in there, to control all the geometry's subdivions.

You can play with the feet. Al poses are accessible through the modifierpanel.

A Stretch in the legs is defined. Please try it out.

The hands have poses. The right hand still need to have some settings, but try the left hand!

What would be possible in the near future:

IK/FK Switch

Link switches, to link hands on what so ever.

Head controls

All other Maya functionality that I did not see yet or didn't mentioned

I found this question popping up again and again, so I'd probably just create a post answering it eventually.

First off, this rig is open source (if one can call a character rig that), so you are allowed to do everything you want with it, which includes any change to the rig, or its appearance, porting it to other software packs, and using it for commercial work.

However, please respect that many creative people poured efforts into the project. In return, they welcome respect for their time.

So please, if you're using it for your own project, which is very fine if you do, credit the community for it. We'd also like to see what Eleven has been up to. Post your efforts on the 11secondclub.com forum or the official Eleven Rig facebook page for us all to marvel at.

We understand that you can't roll extensive credits on a commercial project, so, in exchange of saving a lot of money for not having to create a fully rigged character, you should ideally give some of the enhancements you might have made on the rig back to the community, but at least agree that you NEVER solely credit yourself (and charge money) for anything on this rig that is not 100% your own work.

We must also ask you to refrain from using the rig for any of the following:

- any content which is is pornographic, sexually explicit, lewd, obscene, or excessively violent (everything that goes past cartoon violence, basically)
- promotes or condones illegal activities,
- incites hate or violence against an ethnic, religious, or protected group
and
- political or religious statements of any kind.

The last is a bit mushy, I do understand that, but if the animation you create is fit to make someone angry, it's something we don't like the Eleven Rig to be a part of. Even if you don't like the person you're making angry.

Thanks for understanding, and keep on animating! The Eleven Righttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18046582469942101323noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2290817612299996908.post-19461387962091775642013-01-16T10:07:00.001+01:002013-01-16T10:07:49.775+01:00Motion builder Version onlineHi all!

Just in time for Christmas, Pascal released the new version 1.3 for Blender!

You can read the bugfixes in the changelog post to the left of this one.

Thank you Pascal! The Eleven Righttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18046582469942101323noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2290817612299996908.post-77440780922545545342012-06-01T15:14:00.002+02:002012-06-01T15:14:35.200+02:00Awesome, again! Now our friend, Pascal Gabus, made a version of the Elevenrig for Blender!
The eyes don't act strangely anymore when the head is tilted.

I added some tweakers for the mouth corners (can be seen when the Face Deformers are activated), but they are, opposed to the other facial deformers, currently only translatable. I have also not really tested them so if anyone tests them and might want to let me know if they are working okay, I'd be really glad.
I just noticed that this feature is currently only working in Maya 2011 and above, but I'll have a look at that later.

The third thing I changed is to make some more of the bodily Joints unselectable, so you don't accidentally select and key them, which does lead to unpredictable results that might mar your experience with this rig.
There is still one joint in the face that is selectable, so please set the viewports to make joints invisible before working, it will save you a lot of trouble.

I am still in the process of changing some deformations in the crouch area, and setting the clothes "textures" so they don't create any problems when increasing the body's tessellation.

Cheers!

I released yet another version, this time with some neat new features, like changeable eye color, skin color, and some new body shapes for you to play with :D
Have fun!

Cheers!

Edit: I just made some minor adjustments that fixes two small bugs concerning the eyes rotating differently and some strange stuff happening with the right lower FK arm. If you experience this, just redownload the current version :DThe Eleven Righttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18046582469942101323noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2290817612299996908.post-36596028952086864082012-01-01T23:42:00.001+01:002012-01-02T11:42:11.687+01:00Version 1.0 released!Hi all!
I finally managed to get rid of all (well, at least most of) the bugs, and am able to call this the version 1.0. I wanted to add some more customizations, but, alas, didn't have the time for it :( But that will come, hopefully in a very short time :D

What I did address were many bugs, but also some things on the wishlist, like:
-clenchable jaw muscles
-adams apple incl. chin swell
-nose flare
-twist attributes for the IK limbs incl. toggleable polevectors
-toggleable volume preservation for the torso and for the limbs
-eye deformer
-cranked up the facial shapes, so you can go even more extreme
-added inflatable lips, please be aware that this option may produce some undesired shapes together with the roll in/out of the lips. Still working on that :/
-...

What I didn't add yet were some more customizations like fat, buff, new beards, hairstyles, etc also I didn't manage to add object space for the elbows (sorry Camaro) because of an untraceable dependency cycle and no movable hairline (yet) because this would mean some extra work modeling, too.

What I didn't modify either was the stretch on the elbow pinning, because since I have to reverse-engineer this rig (which has been made by Angelo, now rigger at iAnimate) I could only partly find out how this pinning has been done, and every attempt to modify this to work without stretching has been in vain. So, if you want to use the elbow pinning, please bear in mind, that a) this feature is still experimental and b) you need the pole vector to be turned on for this.

I've released two versions of the rig:
the plain v1.0 is just the rig, and nothing but the rig, none of the additional "history" of the rig included, and best for most animators, and an edit pack, that includes all available blendshapes, etc.

Please note that this new version is only partly compatible to animations done on the older RC1 version.

I hope you'll have fun, and if you encounter any bugs, or have any other wishes, don't hesitate to send them to me either via the bugtracker on the elevenrig blog or the 11secoundclub forum thread.

Cheers!
